Online poker operator PokerStars has announced an increased prize pool for the main-event of the brand’s first flagship poker series in Michigan since going live in the state in January.

The $300-buy-in Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) Main Event now guarantees a $200,000 prize pool, making it the largest-ever guaranteed online poker tournament in the short history of PokerStars Michigan.

The smaller ‘Mini-Main Event’ tournament has also had the guarantee upped from the originally advertised $35,000 to $50,000.

The changes are not surprising, as high volumes of players had registered on the site to play the early events in the series, with little overlays, and most of the guaranteed prize pools for series tournaments getting exceeded.

Qualification for the Mini and Main event is possible via satellites, spin and go tournaments and via the new player depositor freeroll tournament on Pokerstars Michigan.

The Michigan Championship of Online Poker series concludes on Monday, March 8th 2021.
