Wynn Las Vegas To Host $15M Guaranteed WPT Championship
The World Poker Tour (WPT) will hold a historic event in December at the Wynn in Las Vegas that will establish a record for the highest guaranteed prize pool in live poker history.
Anyone can enter by winning a satellite (qualifier) tournament, or by buying in directly for $10,400.
The WPT World Championship, a $10,400 buy-in no-limit Texas hold’em tournament running December 12 to 20 and, with a $15 million prize money guarantee.
The field is estimated to be the largest for any $10,000 or higher buy-in tournament outside of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) when the event concludes, if overlay is avoided. If the high guarantee is fulfilled, there will be at least 1,500 participants in the historic event, and several millionaires will be created, or made wealthier!
The WPT World Championship’s Day 1 flights will take place on December 12, 13, and 14, with the winner being announced on December 20. Players may opt to enter any one of the three Day 1 starting days, but they may only enter each flight once.
In March 2022, Tony Sinishtaj took first place in the a 1,075-entrant field WPT Championship “Main Event” for $1,655,952. The tournament generated a prize pool of $10,105,000.
The World Poker Tour will also hold a WPT Prime Championship at Wynn, Las Vegas from December 8th–1212 in addition to the $15M Guaranteed tournament. At least $2 million will go into the pot as a result of the $1,100 televised event.
Additionally, there is a $2 million guarantee for the Wynn Mystery Bounty tournament which runs from December 16–19. This new format of tournament poker has become very popular lately. An envelope containing a $100,000 mystery bounty will also be given to one lucky winner.
